change of race date

sorry for this one. the host called me and asked to move the race to one week later. therefore, please make changes in your schedule:

the Run in Jordan foot race for march 2007 is NOT on friday 16. march 2007 but instead on friday 23. march 2007.

this means, that this foot race is three weeks prior to the dead sea ultra-marathon.

here we go!

here we go for another run. make yourself ready for friday 16. of march 2007. i am still in negotiations but believe it will be where i intend to have it. Start as usual at 10 am.

BTW - please let your friends know about this place who may not know about it yet. help spread the news that there is Run in Jordan and we run solely for the love of running.

small but beautiful

by 9:50 people where coming in to al-sweifieh who intended to participate at the monthly foot race. our host, the arab bank, put up a nice table with apples, bananas and fruit juices. crumz put in muffins and juthour gave us delicious assorted organic grains with hazelnut, oat and other milks. as more and more joined, you could really see that many knew each other and it became like a big family greeting and hugging each other. all the time we had sometimes less sometimes more clouds over us while all where wondering if it would rain or not. we gave 15 more minutes before the start as others arrived. 10 am we had a special guest coming in. it must have being zeus, grothar (or was it tefnut?) as it started to rain lightly. the weather god finally had sympathy with our presence so it was just short and stopped 2-3 minutes later.

10:10, haitham took the runners for a warm-up round so as at 10:15 sharp the kid’s could start their 4km endurance run where 7 laps had to be completed. 5 minutes later we send the big kid’s into the race. they had to complete 11 laps so as to cover their 6km.
at the beginning of the race it has being a bit fresh especially with the wind who has being our friend all the morning (otherwise it would have rained much more). later in the morning it got warmer. while you grow up you learn you can’t have it all - so in short: ‘windy but fair with no rain‘. I felt sorry for all who didn’t come because they thought it would only rain. i am persuaded those will join next month.

after the race we all enjoyed standing around the table in front of the arab bank entrance, small taking and tasting our healthy breakfast. all where happy to have come to the foot race and promised to run next month. and the arab bank, they gave us a big compliment for the work - they liked it honestly. frankly, this is what i am used to experience back home in germany. a runners community meeting anywhere, enjoying a short moment with friends because we all came for the same cause - for the love of running.

playfm is supporting run in jordan

playfm is supporting our effort in getting people once a moth out of our comfort zone and let you join the foot races organized by run in jordan. in their forum they posted our event. And if this week you are tuning into 99.6 you may even here it announced.

are you getting the mails?

often i get to hear that my eMail invitations are not reaching all of you. here is a small and simple help to check on it:

- have you left your eMail to run in jordan?
  if not go here and send it to me!
- have you checked your mail inbox?
  if not do so now!
- it’s still not there?
  check if maybe my invitation is filtered to your bulk/spam folder!

but, sometimes i also get eMails back i’ve send to you because you’re inbox is full. so please delete old mails, empty your trash and bulk/spam folder to make sure you have again sufficient space in your eMail account, then my invitation to you is not refused.

about the race results from january

i know, you are waiting desperately for the results from january foot race in abdoun. sorry for this delay. this is the weakest point i offer here. when there are just around 20 runners, then it’s not of a big deal to get a list ready. in abdoun we had 75, that’s a bit more. i know that should not be an excuse but i do also have other work. please be patient. i will work on a system to handle race list more efficiently. i apreciate your understanding.
